On a clear Winter afternoon on January 19, 2013 at the historic Deyo Hall in New Paltz, New York, three First Mountain Chapter members, Mike Cantine, Eric Bal and Kevin Gunn, gathered, Mike with his wife Karen and some of his children, Kevin with his wife MegAnne. First off was a tour of historic Huguenot Street, led by Mike Cantine, to see six preserved stone houses dating from 1692 to 1720.
After the walking tour it was back to Deyo Hall which quickly filled up with an appreciative audience for Mike Cantine's hour-long lecture on "Ulster County in the American Revolution", taking those present back to the struggles and contributions of some of our early ancestors from Ulster County in the establishment of our country's independence by the force of arms. Adding to the luster of the lecture's spell was an amazing assortment of replicas of revolutionary war items that Mike invited those in attendance to freely handle, giving an added dimension to the learning experience.
After the lecture it was off to a dinner party at the "Gilded Otter" where First Mountain Chapter members and relatives and friends of Mike gathered to relax, socialize and dine.
